Which Corporate Webinar Software Should I Choose?

GoToWebinar v WebEx v Adobe Connect v Blackboard Collaborate

Which corporate webinar software should I choose? This is a question that is asked every minute of the day around the world by educators and business professionals. There is no single answer that applies to everyone. Which answer is the best solution for you?

I loathe clothes shopping. Really. I hate it. However, we have recently been hunting to buy a new car and I love that. However, I am a car salesperson’s  nightmare. Before considering a purchase I want to take a long look at the car, research all the specifications online, compare pricing to other similar vehicles and get a really good feel for what I am buying. And there is no chance that I am buying any vehicle until after both Karen and I take it for a long test drive.

Fortunately, the corporate webinar software providers are user-friendly for buyers like me. They almost always allow potential customers to take their software for a 30 day spin around the block before a commitment is required. I see the video below as a helpful prerequisite before you take some webinar test drives of your own.

If you are unfamiliar with the four types of webinar platforms I encourage you to watch this previous video first and then return to this page and enjoy the movie below.

The corporate webinar systems are recognised as being reliable and classy products that appeal to professionals. This is great news if you are looking to adopt a system because in some ways you can’t make a bad decision. No matter what you choose you are likely to find that the software meets your needs and should be relatively easy to use. However, corporate webinar software is typically higher priced compared to the offerings of the other three types of webinar platforms. Add to this the difficulty of changing systems at a future time in terms of re-training for users (presenters and participants) and it becomes important to make the best decision the first time.

The above video is designed to help anyone who is looking to adopt or adapt a corporate webinar software solution. The video shows the features of four of the most prominent and respected corporate webinar software providers.

What are the four corporate webinar systems reviewed here?

As always, I want to help you find the best webinar software solution for YOU, which is why I have showcased the features of four corporate webinar systems, namely: They are:

  1. GoToWebinar
  2. Webex
  3. Adobe Connect
  4. Blackboard Collaborate

How do we make the best choice of corporate webinar software?

Use the following steps when making your choice of corporate webinar software:

  1. Identify your evaluation criteria. What features are important to you? List them down.
  2. Trial at least two systems at no cost. The corporate webinar systems typically offer a 30 day trial, which gives you plenty of time to explore the software, have a play and test out its functionality.
  3. Be on the lookout for a deal-breaker. Is there something that the software does not do well that is critical for your business or school?
  4. Get one or two others involved in making the decision. It is reassuring to present your recommended software selection to one or two other people before making a final decision. We all make mistakes sometimes and one benefit of this approach is that obtaining some other opinions can help ensure that a poor choice is avoided. This can also help create “buy-in” so that there is less resistance when your decision is finalised.

What is the Best Webinar Platform for You?

What is the best webinar platform for you? Let’s dig down deep to find out, as explained in the video below.

Late last year I jumped at the opportunity to participate in my son’s school’s Christmas carols show. Over 6 weeks myself and a willing group of 12 other Dads learnt a tough routine that was a blend of hip hop meets Michael Buble blended with Gangnum Style in a Christmas theme. Yes, seriously. Anyway, our costume included a one-size-fits-all pair of pants. I don’t have the stylish moves or the body of Michael Buble and it constantly felt like my pants were determined to slip down to my ankles. I am not a fan of one-size-fits-all solutions for pants, suits, dresses or webinar software options.

Rather than blindly recommend a one-size-fits-all webinar solution to you, I want to help you find the best webinar software solution for YOU, which is the motivation for the video below. However, if you are unfamiliar with the four types of webinar platforms I encourage you to watch this video first and then return to this page. If you want help finding the webinar platform that is right for you then watch the video below.

To identify which webinar platform is right for you, I have broken down each of the four webinar platforms against five criteria of importance. Considering the five criteria for comparing webinar platforms is a great way to help you choose your webinar software.

What are the five criteria for comparing webinar platforms?

They are:

  1. Reliability
  2. Engagement Features
  3. Advanced Marketing Features
  4. Familiarity to Users
  5. Pricing

The above video explains how the four types of webinar platforms compare against the five criteria. If you want more detail about which webinar platform is the best fit for you watch the video.

How do we choose the best webinar platform?

The best webinar platform for you depends upon your preferences between the five assessment criteria. Which are important, and which are not? Which are deal-breakers? Which would be maybe nice-to-haves? There may also be some very specific things about the different webinar platforms that you might need to factor into your decision.

I have designed a Webinar Platforms Guide to help you make your decisions between the pros and cons of the four types of webinar platforms. It includes a worksheet that will enable you to identify which one or two types of webinar platforms might be the best choice for you. The Webinar Platforms Guide is free and can be downloaded here.

How did the dance work out?

We had a blast. There was a malfunction in the middle, but it was audio, not costume. A link to the video is shown below.

Four Types of Webinar Platforms

What are the webinar platforms and how are they different?

There are four types of  webinar platforms. This page and the video below explain the differences.

My wife and I have been recently discussing buying a new car. We started tossing around model options like the Lancer, ASX, X-Trail, Odyssey and many more. We found it very difficult to focus on what we wanted until we stopped and had another discussion first. What type of car do we want? Specifically, did we want a sedan or an SUV or a wagon? After making this decision we had some clarity. Deciding upon the type of car before choosing a model helped us make a much better decision.

In the same way that understanding the different types of cars is a prerequisite for obtaining the right model to purchase this article and the below video break down the different webinar software options. Indeed, understanding the different types of webinar platforms is the starting point for choosing the right webinar software for you. The four types are explained in this video.

As stated in the video, we are so lucky today. There is a huge variety of webinar software for us to choose. That is a great thing but it can be a little confusing.

If you need to select webinar software or potentially adopt a new program then where do we start? The starting point before choosing any program is to look at the four different types of webinar platforms. If we make the incorrect choice of webinar platform then our choice of software may be sabotaged.

What are the four different types of webinar platforms?

They are:

  1. Corporates
  2. Independents
  3. Google+ Hangouts on Air
  4. Wrappers

The above video identifies the differences between each of these four types of webinar platforms.

I have designed a Webinar Platforms Guide to help you make any decision between the pros and cons of the four types of webinar platforms. It includes a worksheet that will enable you to identify which one or two types of webinar platforms might be the best choice for you. The guide is free and can be downloaded here.

What is Webinar Software?

An inside look at webinar software options

In December 2013 I was excited and scared. I had booked a family cruise aboard Carnival Spirit, which had just added the “Green Thunder“. It was promoted as the “steepest, fastest waterslide at sea”. I love cruising. I love waterslides. But I hate being scared.

I was conflicted, but despite the almost vertical drop start I knew I needed to experience the Green Thunder “from the inside”.

Just like my experience with the Green Thunder, the best way I can quickly demonstrate your options with webinar software is to show you from the inside. You are welcome to be excited but I don’t see any reason to be scared. Enjoy the video.

I am a huge fan of webinar software. I might get an “I love webinars” tattoo. OK, not really. Webinars give us the opportunity to showcase our knowledge and skills to anybody anywhere in the world. People who embrace webinars and other live streaming technology have a huge advantage compared to those who do not use these emerging tools. I think this applies to both work and home.

What happened with the Green Thunder?

I did the Green Thunder three times. I didn’t die. It was frightening but I was proud of doing something that was outside my comfort zone and giving it a go. I still remember the frightening feeling of the floor dropping away and then me falling. It was a rush. Will I ever go on it again? Probably not. As we say in Australia – “Been there. Done that.”

Live Streaming Video – What is it?

Live streaming video? What is it? Is it really worth getting excited about?

Live Streaming Video Children

I remember when I first started full-time work. I was teaching business undergraduate students on Queensland’s beautiful Gold Coast. One of my most vivid memories was my first big purchase with my work earnings. It was a new fandangle gadget called a CD player. It was a beautiful thing to look at and use. I could only afford one CD – The Travelling Wilburys. I played the Big O and his friends a LOT. I was so excited to play with this new technology that delivered an amazing quality experience.

I feel the same way again. This time my gadgets are webinar systems, Blab, Periscope and Meerkat. Live streaming really is worth getting excited about.

What is Live Streaming Video?

Live streaming video provides us with the opportunity to communicate with others live via video through our computer, smartphone, tablet or other Internet enabled device. Sometimes, the video is one way, such as Periscope and Meerkat where the presenter uses the software to teach or sell something to the other participants. In other cases, such as Blab, multiple presenters can see each of their video screens as they chat with each other. There is a wide array of products that deliver quality live streaming video experiences, including webinar software. We can all access sophisticated solutions for using live streaming video that can be used for:

  • Conducting meetings
  • Presenting online training
  • Providing product information
  • Generating sales

I am so excited about the potential for live streaming video to enhance communications at work and home. If you like the idea of getting excited too then a great way to learn more about live streaming video is to take a look at my Beginners Guide to Live Streaming. It is free and you can get it here.

Hello. My name is Damian Noud and welcome to my website.

Damian Noud - Welcome!

I am very excited that you are here. Yes, I am talking to you. I love helping people learn. If you were not here my mission would be diminished. I might cry. Or maybe not.

How can I help you?

Let’s get to the point. My goal is to help you improve your online presentation skills. I want to help you get skilled, be confident, and to succeed in presenting webinars and using other live streaming technologies. If you are unsure what these things are you can click here to get up to speed within 3 minutes. Are you interested in these things? If yes, that is awesome. If no, then here comes the crickets.

Cricket. Cricket. Cricket. No, not the game. That is my code for awkward silence.

Seriously, maybe you don’t care at all about presenting online. If that is true then you are very welcome to enjoy my Dad jokes and willingness to share my life’s stories and poke fun at myself. You can leave anytime that you get bored. You can also become my hero and tell others about my site. Yes, please!

If you would like to at least learn what webinars and live streaming are all about linger a while. After all, there was once a time when people thought Facebook, Twitter and YouTube were foreign languages and surely could not have an impact on their lives. These days, it is Periscope and Blab leading the charge of the invading live stream technologies.

By becoming a regular on this site I will explain one-step-at-a-time the technologies, skills and strategies required to use webinars and these new technologies with confidence. I promise it is not rocket science and the most interesting thing of all is that live streaming may one day become as relevant to you and others as today’s social media options. I am giving you a chance to get ahead of the learning curve if that is helpful to you. My mission with this website is simply to become ….

Your Confidence Coach for Presenting Online

I want to be your Confidence Coach for Presenting Online. I want you to be inspired and learning relevant content that you will be able to use. I believe this will occur most effectively if we have a two way dialog. I don’t want this to be a website where you just visit occasionally and read and watch stuff, learn and leave. I really want to know what you think and I look forward to hearing from you. We will learn best if we learn from each other.
